About this episode

What does it take to redesign health tech for the people it was meant to serve - and reshape an entire industry in the process?

In this episode, we meet game changer Amber Vodegel — the digital health entrepreneur behind Pregnancy+, one of the world’s most widely used pregnancy apps. Now, with 28X, she’s launching a bold new venture to transform menstrual health: an AI-powered app that puts privacy, equity, and education at its core.

With ambitions to reach 100 million users in over 100 countries, Amber is challenging the status quo — building a platform that prioritises users over data, and access over profit. She also shares how co-creating 28X with young girls, educators, global health systems and policy experts is helping turn her mission into a global movement. This is a conversation about trust, stakeholder collaboration, and what inclusive innovation really looks like.

Amber Vodegel is a Dutch-British digital health entrepreneur who’s spent her career at the intersection of technology, women’s health, and social impact. She was the co-founder of Pregnancy+, the global health app used by over 150 million women, which was later acquired by Philips.

After stepping back from executive roles, she returned to start 28X — a new AI-powered platform tackling the global gaps in menstrual health. Built on the principles of privacy, inclusivity, and health equity, the app aims to support women and girls around the world, with a focus on underserved communities.

Alongside her ventures, Amber is a non-executive director at a leading diagnostics PLC and a regular speaker on topics ranging from women’s health and AI ethics to inclusive innovation. Outside of work, she’s a proud mum and a keen tennis player.
