What award-winning reporting looks like

What makes a corporate report stand out? At this year’s Corporate & Financial Awards, the judges’ comments kept coming back to the same qualities. They praised accountability told through human stories, editorial discipline, structures that both people and AI can navigate, and reporting that is “credible and decision-useful”.

Black Sun Global and its clients won eleven awards across seven categories at the ceremony at The Brewery in London this month. Standard Chartered took Gold for Best Diversity and Inclusion Reporting, and Jupiter Asset Management took Gold for Best Printed Report – Small Cap. Nine further awards recognised work with Associated British Foods, Burberry, Capita, Modulaire Group, NatWest Group, Rightmove, Royal London, Stolt-Nielsen and Together.

The winning projects range from explaining a bank’s climate ambitions to bringing a luxury brand’s strategy to life online. What they share is a focus on making each organisation’s performance, priorities and value clearer to the people who matter to it.

What caught the judges’ attention

Standard Chartered’s Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Impact Report was described as “a strong example of reporting that combines accountability with human stories”. The report weaves employee experiences together with data, policies and programmes, connecting inclusion with business performance and community impact.

Jupiter’s annual report was called “thoughtful and visually striking”. The judges praised its editorial discipline and accessibility, along with a streamlined structure designed for both people and AI tools to navigate and understand.

Among the printed reports, the judges highlighted Capita’s balance of technological ambition and human insight, Rightmove’s forward-looking approach and Stolt-Nielsen’s visual innovation. Royal London’s report was described as “thoughtful and evidence-led”, and Together’s was praised as “clear and strategically purposeful”.

The digital work drew strong feedback too. The judges commended Burberry’s balance of brand identity and measurable engagement, and the integrated, user-focused reporting model of Associated British Foods. NatWest Group’s Climate Transition Plan Report was praised for its “credible and decision-useful reporting”. Modulaire Group’s report stood out for its commercial relevance and accessibility.
